The Maryland Public Interest Law Project, Inc. (MPILP) is a 501(c)(3) student-run non-profit providing summer funding for students to work in unpaid public interest internships. 2025 is our 37th year supporting University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law students.
Our Commitment
MPILP's primary activity is administering summer grants to students working in public service legal positions. MPILP encourages students to build experience in non-profit legal agencies serving communities that are underserved and underrepresented.
These grants are made possible through the generosity of the Maryland Legal Service Corporation (MLSC), and the donations we receive from our fundraising events and campaigns including our Annual Goods and Services Auction.

Make a difference. Leave a mark.
In 2023, MPILP administered a total of $160,000 in summer grants to 29 University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law students who completed 10,000 hours of public interest legal work.
